There have been conflicting opinions about the new version of Virtual PC (version 7.0)...some say it's a lot faster than before (but still fairly slow), others say it's just as slow. The 20" iMac is a very fast computer, and the 2 GB of RAM will definitely help, but you can't set aside 1 GB for VPC, as VPC only allows you to allocate up to 512 MB for the PC environment.
If you really need performance in PC apps through Virtual PC, you might be out of luck. But if you don't mind giving it a shot, and perhaps willing to deal with some slow graphics, go for it.

It's going to be interesting to see how this slows down the App approval process. "After a highly publicized dispute, Steve Jobs had to review the App himself and he said 'huh??? what??? it's not even in english!'"
I have a feeling this is going to open up a lot of loopholes and backdoors for foreign developers.

G.Skill without a doubt. Used 2-4GB Sticks in my 2011 17 inch MBP, and this 4GB kit of 2x2GB will work fine for your need, and only $41.99 shipped: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231213
Just an FYI, the 2008 MacBook (Late Aluminum Unibody I assume) will only read RAM as 1067 MHz, not 1333 MHz. You can put 1333 in them, but they will just under-clock them to 1067.

I used to spend a lot of time at Spymac. This just helps confirm that I made the right choice in sticking around here instead.

Although not found in the BETA version, I hope they put Rosetta back in. Such a small program which doesn't take up too much space. I don't see why not as snow leopard has Rosetta support.
It may be a small app but its a major stepback for Apple as they just want to kill all PowerPC support, regardless of what the customers want. Anybody not up to date needs to update their app to work on Lion, no exception.

People come to forums such as this for help and to complain. Rare is it that someone logs on to post "My iMac works perfectly and I am 100% satisfied."
But for me, that is exactly the case. My iMac is perfect and I am 100% satisfied with it. It was, other than my iPhone 4, my first Apple product, and as you can see from my sig I have bought a whole lot more. In fact I will be getting a second iMac to replace the last Windows XP machine in my home so that we can now be windows free. Other than my 3 laptops provided to me for my job. Yuck! :p
If you go Apple, you'll never go back. :apple:
iMac = 10
iPhone4 = 10
MBA = 10
iPad2 = 8 (Light bleed)

What do you mean? Noone actually knows when new products will be released but we can often suspect certain things, about what system are you talking about? Also, the refurb store has some pretty good deals and it won't be a waste of money imo to buy something from the refurb store.
I have changed my mind sooo many times now about what to buy. But I see they are selling some good stuff on the Apple refurb store. If I don't buy right now, when will new products make it back on Apple's page? Thanks

Looked through the forums for this topic, but no dice. My question:
I'd like to transfer pictures from my CDMA phone (on Sprint; LG Rumor2) via bluetooth to my ipod touch 3rd gen. I've gotten them to recognize each other, but they don't seem to hold connection. The iPod especially fails to connect. I've gotten to the point of the passkey and each device identifying the other, but that's where it ends.
Anyone have any success with this, LG or otherwise?

Why don't you go to the website of the manufacturer and look for a driver for OS X? I'm assuming this is an HP, if it is, they have a bunch of drivers that sometimes have to be installed first.

I'd so take one of those over an iPad, any day. :)
Me too. Those machines were really awesome - active matrix displays were a big, big deal back then.

The late 2008 models run with Core 2 Duos, right? I don't think Core 2 Duos use DD3. They use DDR2, which would mean that you wouldn't be able to use it in your old MBP. Just look under "About this Mac" and it should say what memory it uses.
Yes. I'm 101% sure that my Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro has a Core 2 Duo processor in it. Later models of the Core 2 Duo processor is capable of DDR3. As long as the OP has a 2008 unibody MBP, it should work alright. I'm not sure if there are compatibility issues with the 1333mhz ram, though.

Good question...
It didn't used to do that in 10.1 and it annoys me because it's a very Windowesque feature. I think when I click shutdown, I really mean shutdown and don't need to be asked.

The first preview had a lot of major bugs. It may be near feature complete, but I agree that they need to spend time and ensure the IDE is stable before they make a GM.
They'll just use fix-it and ship it next week :)
XCode 3 is way old. It was released with Leopard. Since then, we've only really had minor revisions (3.1, 3.2) and very infrequent intervals (3.2 released with snow leopard). I would expect Apple have been working on this for a very long time already.
Many of those features (e.g. the static analyser, which came with 3.2) could very well have been the result of development done for XCode 4.
Since the product was announced which such fanfare at WWDC, I would imagine a release would happen in the next few months. Possibly with the iPad's OS4 update (predicted to be around late August/September).
EDIT: In case anybody was worried, XCode 4 by default installs in to its own folder (/Xcode4) and can co-exist with 3.X. It can open 3.X projects and does not "upgrade" them or make them incompatible with earlier versions.

I do it to heat my room... oh, and cure stuff too. ;)
haha, that is so true! I had a much smaller bedroom last year, and I swear when I had my iMac folding it made the room a couple degrees warmer.

At my college we're upgrading an Xserve G5 (RackMac3,1) to be a file server for some courses. Currently it has one sled with a 75GB drive. Obviously, this isn't enough.
I've tried some Googling on this matter and I'm hearing a ton of different stuff - custom firmware, size issues, etc. So, for anyone who knows, what's the actual lowdown on this machine. We want to put in three 2TB drives using three standard sleds, replaced with third-party drives. Is this possible?
