still waiting on a 64-Bit SMP client

I thought it was 64-bit? After all there is no 32 bit linux version yet so I would think the OS X version is 64 bit.

Again, the monitor is in pristine condition; not a scratch or dead pixel anywhere. I'm really meticulous about my electronics.

Ok, so lets say I go with 3rd party memory. If I have an unrelated problem with the MBP, would I need to put the original memory back in before taking it in for service?

I'm new to the whole Mac thing. Thanks.
First, it's ALL 3rd party RAM, since Apple doesn't make RAM. They put other manufacturer's RAM in their computers. Second, upgrading the RAM or hard drive yourself is not a violation of warranty, so there's no need to put the original RAM back before service. Hang onto the original RAM, in case you have a problem with the RAM you buy.
... Apple cannot give me crap for using third party ram.
    They wouldn't, anyway. See above.

Apple Warranty: Installing Memory, Expansion Cards, User Installable Parts Does Not Void Warranty (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=13946)

From 2011 MacBook Pro User Guide (http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/MacBook_Pro_15inch_Early2011.pdf):
Your MacBook Pro does not have any user-serviceable parts, except the hard drive and the memory.

can anyone confirm that the UConn (or CCSU) bookstores are selling leopard at this discounted price? If so what do you need to buy it (student id?) and is it available today or in a couple months or something?

Cool! thanks man! I'll try it now!
    hope that works!

Actually I just got it second hand! too bad the previous user didn't fix it up!

    P.S.
My local dealer is going to charge me about 55USD for fixing this problem. I can't believe users like us are PAYING the fix for a KNOWN issue. I hope the firmware works! Thanks a lot!!!

This will have absolutely no effect on SSDs (http://cseweb.ucsd.edu/users/swanson/papers/Fast2011SecErase.pdf) beyond simply wearing them out. A single pass is more than adequate.

awesome techy article yet 2 questions:

why would an SSD/Flash Drive wear out within the life of the machine?
    (even with heavy 'normal' use)

if it indeed did, then what's AppleCare for?

if you can't get 3 years out of a storage device running Mac OSX - even erasing and reinstalling the :apple: OS once a week - then something's amiss.

Pretty cool that you got it for free. I'd quite like an old iMac, to poke around it.

Oh, you mean the title of the browser page says "Hi" up the top, and then what they read in the actual web page is your Green writing?

I never knew it was that simple in code... I only did it by filling in the appropriate box within GoLive.

but there seem to be layers and layers... there are CSS things I have no idea about that do involve code. We should "Matrix load" our different skill sets to each other (if only I could lie in that Matrix couch for a few days... I would upload so many things.):)

I am going to be picking up my new 27" iMac at the store tomorrow. For the past 4 years I have been using a 24" Dell at 1920x1200. Since the 27" iMac is 2560x1140, do most people run it at native or something lower?

I am looking forward to the increased screen size so I can have more rows/columns viewable, but not sure I want them any smaller.

I sit about 24-30" away from the screen.

How would the 27" look at something lower?

I just bought a new MacBook Air Ultimate, and it seems to wobble a bit. The wobbling seems to occur when the lid is fully up because the front left foot pad does not make any contact with the surface of my glass desk. What can I do about this wobble? Is it a problem with the foot pad or the entire body?

Can the guys at the Genius Bar fix this, or should I exchange it?

    Thanks.

You can exchange it. Just tell them your not happy

    Hey Mvbalaj,

You're totally right! I did not even notice the correlation between WWF and the ads. It happens almost every time. I guess now that Zynga owns them they're spamming our backgrounds, as if the longer ads in the 'free' game weren't enough.

At least I know what it is now, and can kill it with SBSettings.

Those are interesting but I am not sure that's what I need. I just want to send a monthly email to people with updates. To whoever adds their email to my mailing list....but I'd like that list to be compiled automatically from the main page on my site where they input the email address...I thought maybe I could do it with php

i too am still a beginner at photography but it to me, it seems like the plants in the foreground of the first picture just get in the way. They seem to hide part mountain. i sorta don't know whether i should be looking at the mountain or the plants in front of it.

and you are right, it is a beautiful country. hope to one day visit it

Have you tried to use an external monitor, that would tell you if your gfx chip is bad.

Yes, external monitor looked like the second photo. Now everything is back looking like the first photo.

They were first with the most applications on Mac OS X and they've done more for optimisations on it?

Considering that their applications still don't work well, I have my doubts.

Still, we need them and Macromedia was forced to stop offering xRes when it just didn't sell as a competitor to Photoshop. Pity Live Picture.

Yes, Adobe has a good strategy but they're not as great as they would have everyone believe. We know that and they know that.

There are several camera stabilizers on the market, plus, there are shoulder mounts and monopods available as well.
