A good friend of mine really wants an iPod mini, and I thought it would be nice to get her one for Christmas. Problem is that you can't get them anywhere anymore. Apple had some for a while on the refurb section of their website, but they are all gone now and the only place I have seen them is on Ebay for like $250+! I don't really want to pay that much, so I thought I would see if there was anyone here who has one is good condition that they might feel like selling? Any color is fine, although she would prefer green. Also, if anyone knows of a place where one can still buy new/refurbished iPod minis, I would be interested in hearing about that too.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Can't say the wait was worth it, knowing how much we knew already from leaks, but...
Did anyone (who subscribed) get an email from MacRumors notifying them the keynote was available online?
I signed up for the spoiler-free keynote link, confirmed my email address (2-3 days ago) and waited around tonight and nothing. Around 7p EST, I had my girlfriend go to the apple site and sure enough... they keynote is online. Even to this hour (10p), i still haven't received an email notification from MacRumors. Of course, I could be the only one...

My name is Kyle Brown and I use a Macintosh.
It came yesterday, only nine days after being announced so I was thrilled. Opening the package was like christmas. Everything was so neat and tidy.
I have always had a secret passion for Apple. When I got my first real computer back in 1995 I think it was a 486/66mhz AST from RadioShack that actually stood the test of time much better than most. I had asked and asked for a Mac, but my parents knew better I guess and I joined the PC world. After that I got a Gateway PIII 600 when I entered high school, which seemed like a supercomputer to the previous model. Then off to college I got a 1.4GHz Athlon model (from NuTrend.. highly recommended) which I still have and actually like. I really had no problem with Windows.. but the mac.. it just seemed a lot more fun.
At the beginning of the Summer I wanted an iMac.. then an iBook.. then an iMac. Finally I decided I'd go pro style w/ a PB. But, oh the wait until the 15". To make a long enough story short I ordered my 15" Tuesday morning before my 8AM class (EDT). Thus began the countdown....
Yesterday when I sat down and opened my computer I couldn't get over the technology and design that goes into it. It's artwork.. not just a computer. It seems to have a life of its own.. it is a technological being. Using yesterday was amazing, everything was so simple so tight. So beautiful. I had no problems with the screen, the latch, or warping. Yes, there is a gap, but its supposed to be there. I took some pictures, but they aren't that good... too excited to focus.
As I continue my Mac journey I would like to thank everyone for keeping me company over the last few months and for always being polite and helpful.
My name is Kyle Brown and I am a switcher.

From what I read the L'Equipe evidence was inconclusive - no definitive proof.
I hope Lance is telling the truth, I certainly want to believe him.
It's also important to remember that EPO or other red-blood cell boosting drugs are used to treat cancer - perhaps in 199 his system was still out of balance as a result of his cancer treatment. Just speculation though.

The current jb programs aren't as easy as jailbreakme.com. Considering the OP is too lazy to research what's available, the jb programs might require too much effort.
Its not that I'm too lazy to research whats available. I actually have done research on the subject, which raised a number of questions. I'm not an expert at hacking iPad. I also have a job, two kids and not a lot of time to troubleshoot a problem if I mess up my iPad configuration. Apparently you have plenty of time on your hands to make utterly useless comments.

Solution: download from here http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php
I wrote about the fail here: http://obamapacman.com/2011/05/fail-apple-itunes-mac-download-link-broken/
Update: I've tried OpenDNS and google DNS, flush cache, rebooted, still getting errors. But others are saying the Apple page is working for them.
I went to the website and checked as far down as iTunes 10.2 but they are all listed as being for Windows. Any for the Mac?

I'm doing a website that will have some Flash animation in it. Is there a way to have it to where the browser can be checked to see if it has the Flash Player to view the Flash animation, then if it doesn't have it, a JPEG or GIF of the same dimensions as the Flash animation will be put in it's place?
Any help is appreciated :)

What does designating something a "title" do if you are also putting in size 5 green text?
I know how to customize my CSS within GoLive's graphical interface so that "title" means something by going into the CSS menus and then clicking on my CSSs "tags" on the sideline bar thingy. In other words, I create a standard title look without code. :o

There have been conflicting opinions about the new version of Virtual PC (version 7.0)...some say it's a lot faster than before (but still fairly slow), others say it's just as slow. The 20" iMac is a very fast computer, and the 2 GB of RAM will definitely help, but you can't set aside 1 GB for VPC, as VPC only allows you to allocate up to 512 MB for the PC environment.
If you really need performance in PC apps through Virtual PC, you might be out of luck. But if you don't mind giving it a shot, and perhaps willing to deal with some slow graphics, go for it.

Finder says it's 40.5KB but the uploader says it's 38.7KB. Does it fit in the size requirement? My first entry for the 'animated' category.
To check file sizes as uploaded, you can get some browsers to tell you. For example, in Firefox you can Ctrl-click on the picture and pick Properties, and it will tell you the size in bytes. (39628 in your case, so you're just inside the limit).
All you can get easily out of Safari is the size in K from the activity window.
If you're willing to use the terminal instead of Finder, ls -l will also give you the count you're after.

Oracle did no such thing. Were you maybe thinking of Sun? Many years ago?
You gotta admit, those are some of the fugliest and un-Mac-like applications out there.
Sorry, I meant Oracle have discontinued their Oracle database for OSX.. the last release for OSX was Oracle 10g. Oracle is now 11g.
Agreed - they aren't particularly pretty but since OO v3 things have got better with the use of Aqua. However, I'd rather them look ugly and have them not available on OSX at all...

President Obamas decision to no longer defend the so-called Defense of Marriage Act in court is the courageous and correct one. DOMA was a disaster and a huge step backwards from the instant it was signed into law. President Obamas decision gives me hope that we as a nation can address the far more significant challenges and problems we face. We can only hope that his decision spells the beginning of the end of DOMA, and that it is a signpost of the continuing progress we as a nation have made in tolerating, and indeed, celebrating those people who are different from us in whatever form.
For me the question of same-sex marriage boils down to this: Love is hard enough to find. If two men or two women find love together, and want to publicly declare and celebrate it, who are we to tell them they cannot? If anyone can think of a dumber reason to discriminate against someone, please let me know. Just as I would not want anyone else to have a veto power over who I might choose to marry, I do not, and should not, have veto power over who someone else might choose to marry. Nor should the government.
That said, if a particular religious denomination chooses not to perform same-sex marriages, that may be their right. The government, however, has no such discretion, and should not. The idea that the government should act as custos mores (The Guardian of Morals) is long past.
As Justice Kennedy wrote in Romer v. Evans, 517 U.S. 620 (1996) We must conclude that Amendment 2 classifies homosexuals not to further a proper legislative end but to make them unequal to everyone else. This Colorado cannot do. A State cannot so deem a class of persons a stranger to its laws. Romer v. Evans, 517 U.S. 620 (1996) (emphasis added).
The arguments against same-sex marriage are ludicrous. Distilled to their essence, they all reduce to the idea that marriage has traditionally been between a man and a woman, and so it should stay that way. If marriage were on the same legal level as joining a social club, and no state action were involved, that would be fine. But the instant the government becomes involved, our government is required to treat everyone equally. Allowing only certain groups to avail themselves of the legal benefits and protections of marriage violates the principle of equal protection of the law, and there is simply no rational or compelling state interest to do so that could justify such a separation. The argument that But weve always done it that way simply does not, and cannot, justify prohibiting same-sex marriage. It is no more than the tired refrain of the intellectually bankrupt who reflexively oppose any change that does not directly benefit them.
And so President Obama should be celebrated for taking a step to promote the equality of all in the United States. With his decision and announcement, we are one step closer to the ideal of judging a person not by what they look like, or whom they associate with, but by the content of their character and by the actions they take.

Hey what's up,
Sorry haven't had much time, started coding last night again.
Yes I think I have the total solution.
The first part, the masking, I've managed to recreate with a 'RenderMask' (CCRenderTexture). An example can be found here:
http://www.cocos2d-iphone.org/forum/topic/8474
This works nicely. I'm keeping track of a "blastSprite" array wich I blend with the barrierSprite on the RenderLayer.
For the second part (the pixel detection -> transparent/color), I'm going to use a hack on CCTexture2d: CCTexture2dMutable. This is a extended class with a very fast 'pixelAt' function. Haven't had the time to test it, hopefully tomorrow.
Download incl. sample can be found here:
https://github.com/manucorporat/AWTextureFilter
Thanks for the effort guys. I'll show you a movie if I've got it all working :)

You missed the real story -- in the release notes Apple explain that they're deprecating the Apple maintained version of Java:
http://www.infoq.com/news/2010/10/apple-deprecates-java
Apple have provided a mechanism for installing 3rd party JDKs (in particular OpenJDK), but it likely won't work with current versions of Java IDEs (Netbeans, Eclipse etc) until they're updated to work with the new paths.
I wonder if this is anything to do with Oralce?
More importantly, is Java going to die on OS X? If OpenJDK or Soylatte don't pick it up then is all lost?
