If the border security and guest worker issues are dealt with early in the year, some in Congress are evidently preparing to try and "fix" the employment-based immigration system, originally designed in 1952, which has become close to unworkable.
However, a Congress fractured on immigration policy most likely lacks the political will to fully reengineer the system. Instead of a major renovation to make the U.S. competitive in the global market for highly skilled talent, there probably will be only the usual technical fixes around the edges.

Ask that customer service woman to give this to you in writing.
Yes, They assured me that the plan is for unlimited...also covers all the networks (Initiall y some of them thought that it's only applicable for certain networks)....there is no restrictions at all...any ways I will re confirm with them.....
The only problem with them are taxes, there are other VOIP phones in the market that they are charging just 3-4 dollars as taxes, whereas vonage is charging more than 8 dollars which is killing part.....

I read on the murthy.com website that the UCSIS needs to go through the Kentucky Consular Center to obtain the PIMS verification. The number for the KCC is 606-526-7500. I am going to try and call them to see if they can give me any information on timelines.
For those people that have not left the US yet, it might be worth it to talk to your lawyers and see if there is any way you can have your names added to this database before you travel - that should eliminate any hassles once you leave the country. Much easier to try and do it from there rather than from here.
There is no number to call here to check on status - I have been sending emails to mumbaiNIV@state.gov but have not received any response from them yet. Not really a surprise. If anyone tries the number above and gets some response please let the rest of us know.

On the other day Congressman Tom Tancredo was in Lou Dobbs program and they as usual ranted about H1-B visas. I almost fell from the chair when Tom T said H1B visa is valid for 5 years and there are around 700,000 people overstaying their visas. He clearly implied the thousands of people from all over the world staying here legally as illegals.

Since Lou Dobbs didn't challenge Tom I'm sure he agrees with him. I wish somone create a video explaining how H1 can be extended beyond six years, interview some USCIS ( even ex employee), immigration lawyers and put a fitting response to this video in Youtube itself.

Nope I gave him all info with application mailed on 11 June. They shd be able to pull info with my LS, FS, DOb and center filed.. not by date filed. Lets hope for the best. Yes he could see my checks not cashed and no info about me in the system.. may be thats why he made an email inquiry to NSC.

I got the following response for Ombudsman for AC21 mail sent to them a week ago. They need Evidance of I 485 denials to discuss with USCIS. The following is the mail I got. People who have been affected already. Please share this with Ombudsman..Let's keep the momentum going..

Vonage does work with a home security system, but they do no recommend using it for that purpose because then your security system is dependent on the internet to make the call out during an emergency.

For the benefit of all. There is another way to know receipt number and it is valid only if you have given your own personal checks to USCIS. When the check is cleared from the bank, they make image of check available on their on line banking web site. The image shows front of the check; page down here and see the back side of the check. You will find all your receipt numbers on the back side.

Here is a summary of the bills, their bill numbers and the Sections:
Sen. Chuck Hagel's Bill (Section 202 of S. 1918)
-High-tech workers who have worked in the U.S. for 3 years would be allowed to adjust to permanent resident status without regard to the annual employment-based immigrant visa cap of 140,000.
-The spouses and children of immigrant workers would also be allowed to adjust status without regard to this cap.
McCain/Kennedy Bill (Sections 601 and 602 of S. 1033)
-Increases quota on EB immigrants to 290,000 to alleviate retrogression
-Recapture unused visas between 2001 and 2005
-Increase the per country limit from 7% to 10%
Cornyn/Kyle Bill (Sections 1001 and 1002 of S. 1438)
-Recapture of the unused visas between 2001 through 2005
-Removal of diversity visa and reallocation of these. Since this is mentioned under EB, the implication seems to be reallocation to EB but am not sure.
-Increase of the country limit from 7% to 10%
It is understood that there would be a merging of these to make the final comprehensive immigration bill

You don't need A# number from I140.
When you give First name, last name and birth date. They can pull all your immigration applications submitted previously. If you have I140 approved that will show them in database.
